High Security Locks for Secure Storage Units

VdS has introduced Addendum S1 to the Guidelines for Physical Security Devices, Standard 2396. All VdS approved locks are required to meet this new requirement by 12/31/2009.

To ensure that our products continue to meet or exceed approval agency requirements, KABA's Auditcon 2 Series and Cencon solenoid dead bolt locks have been redesigned. The design changes include improvements to the solenoid, additional hardening of the bell crank latch, modifications to how the slider rests against the bell crank latch, and spin riveting of the bell crank mounting studs to provide greater holding strength. The design modifications have been completed and accepted by VdS.

No changes have been made to the lock installation footprint or to the outer dimensions of the case, nor have any operational changes been made. Part numbers will remain the same.

Some of the new parts are downward compatible to the old design and have already been introduced into production. The new solenoid was introduced into production the first of October, and the bell crank was implemented starting 10/20/09. Other modifications will be in place in advance of December 31, 2009.
