Subject: National Fire Protection Association Standard NFPA #101
Models: Alarm Lock model 715 Delayed Egress Panic Bar
Connection to Remote Life-Safety Equipment (Facility Fire Alarm Interconnect)
National Fire Protection Association Standard NFPA101 requires the Alarm Lock model 715 to be connected to an APPROVED SUPERVISED AUTOMATIC FIRE-DETECTION SYSTEM or SPRINKLER SYSTEM that will automatically and instantly unlatch the lock in the event of an emergency.
Locate terminal block " TS1 " at the top left of the model 715 Control Box. Terminals 5 and 6 are reserved for the fire alarm relay connection. The model 715 Control Box is shipped with one small orange jumper wire that connects terminals 5 and 6.
When connecting model 715 to a fire alarm control panel, the jumper connecting terminals 5 and 6 MUST be REMOVED and DISCARDED . Terminate the fire alarm relay wires to terminals 5 and 6 (maintaining polarity) to accept a normally closed relay circuit from the fire alarm control panel. This normally closed relay will latch to OPEN ON ALARM when the building fire alarm control panel indicates an emergency. The 15-second exit delay is directly related to the normally closed circuit; if the relay changes to open, the model 715 Control Box will sense this relay change and will react by allowing the lock to open without delay.
