Connecting an RK-WL to a 28SA Plus With No Computer or Control Panel

When it is not possible to use an access control panel and PC software to control the operation of the RK-WL or other Wiegand card reader, the 28SA Plus can be used as a single-door controller. The 28SA Plus is easily programmed by using the PD26 programming deck to validate or void cards. If custom time zones are required, the 28SA Plus can be programmed with a computer prior to installation, and by using the PD26 on site, the cards can be assigned to any time zone.

Required Parts:

28SA Plus Standalone access control reader

RK-WL Card reader (or any Wiegand output reader - card/output must be 26 bits)

7994995 5-pin Wiegand cable assembly

PD26 Program Deck

12 VDC Regulated Power Supply rated at 1.2 Amps

(Separate power supplies for the 28SA Plus and RK-WL are recommended)

Required cards or keytags:

RKCM-02 26-bit (format 201) Clamshell Card

RKKT-02 26-bit (format 201) Keytag RKCI-02 26-bit (format 201) ISO Card

Note: Do not use 32-bit or format 303 cards or keytags.

Note: No more than 2 facility codes can be used for this system.
