Installation Instructions for Model 2006 / 2007 Safe Lock Bolt Position Indicator

The Model 2006 is a Pivot Bolt locking mechanism and the Model 2007 is a direct drive (D•Drive) configuration. Both models can be field fitted with a bolt position indicator. While the process is straightforward, the switch component is small and somewhat delicate. Care should be taken when handling the switch and performing the installation.

1. To install the bolt position indicator assembly it is first necessary to carefully remove the steel plate that covers the front of the lock case by removing the three screws which hold it in place.

2. Let the lock case lie on its cover side when removing the steel plate to make sure the drive cam and white plastic washer stay in place.

5. With the switch in place in the lock body cavity, route the three wires in the recessed channel. Make sure all three wires are completely within the channel so they will not be pinched or crushed when the steel plate is re-installed.

3. The pre-wired switch has two holes just below the small lever arm. These holes go over two small posts cast as part of the lock body, with the lever arm oriented as shown. This photograph was taken without the small foam pad attached to the front of the switch to show the two small holes.

6. Keeping the switch wires in the recessed channel, put the steel plate back in place and attach it securely to the lock case using the screws you removed in step 1.

4. The switch comes with a very small piece of foam attached to the front, as shown here. The foam helps hold the switch in the lock cavity when the steel cover plate is attached.

The bolt position indicator (BPI) switch is single pole/double throw, rated at 30 volts DC, 500 milliamps resistive load. Wire designations are:

Black—Common

Red—Connected to Common when the lock is secured Green—Connected to Common when the lock is unsecured
