Inhibits Microbial Growth

Pemko MicroShield® Antimicrobial Gasketing inhibits the growth of mold and other microorganisms that can create an unhealthy environment. This is especially a concern in healthcare facilities and schools where mold and bacteria can cause health issues for those with reduced resistance.

Antimicrobial products can help achieve the LEED for Schools credit for mold prevention. In addition, Pemko gasketing helps to meet the LEED Indoor Environmental Quality prerequisites and credits by helping to minimize exposure to tobacco smoke, indoor chemicals, and pollutants.

The antimicrobial gasketing is available under product codes AM44 and AM88, in the same styles as the popular S44 and S88 Fire/Smoke Gasketing.

Technical Specifications:

Pemko's MicroShield products are third-party tested in accordance with JIS Z 2801:2000. This method tests the ability of products to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, in a 24 hour period of contact. The testing determined the products reduced the s. aureus and e. coli by 99.99%.

Material:

• Extruded from high-temperature silicone with MicroShield, a silver-based antimicrobial additive.
• Effective between -58ºF and 450ºF.

Fire Rated:

AM44 and AM88 are Category H and Category J gaskets under UL10C. IN addition, AM88 meets the requirements for Category G, Edge Sealing Systems.

BHMA Classified:

AM44 and AM88 meet the requirements for ANSI/BHMA A156.22 for Door Gasketing.

Smoke tested in accordance with UBC 1997:7-2, Part 1 & 2 and UL1784-2001 + revisions. Meets requirements of NFPA 105-2009 "Standard for the Installation of Smoke Door Assemblies and Other Opening Protectives."

Air infiltration tested in accordance with ASTME 283-2004.
