Handing/Key-Retaining Chart

Left-hand lock (LH) = Cabinet door hinged on left Right-hand lock (RH) = Cabinet door hinged on right Vertical-hand lock (VH) = Drawer lock, bolt locks up Inverted-hand lock (IH) = Drawer lock, bolt locks down

Key-retaining definition: The key cannot be removed from the lock while in the "unlocked" postion. The key can only be removed from the lock if the lock is in the "locked" position.

Use of key-retaining function: Key-retaining function is generally used in instances where cabinets or drawers should not be left unlocked.

Handed locks: Handed locks must be ordered either LH, RH, VH or IV.

Non-Handed locks: Non-handed locks can be ordered as either door or drawer. Door locks will work in both LH or RH applications and drawer locks will work for both vertical or inverted function.
