Key management is an essential part of any Retail Loss Prevention program, but is often expensive to maintain and time consuming to manage. The Medeco XT system is made up of three simple elements: electronic locks, programmable keys and system management software. Medeco XT Electronic Locking System

Medeco XT system works like a basic access control system. Keys are programmed to operate specific locks during a set schedule and then assigned to a user. Once the key is past its schedule, the user can no longer open any locks. Schedules also contain a date range which can be set from one day to one year. As the key is used throughout its schedule, every access and unauthorized attempt is recorded in the key and the lock, then uploaded to the software when the key is resynchronized.

The captured (audit) data is then used to generate reports showing where and when the key was used. Exception reports can be generated to

identify questionable activities that may require further investigation; such as unauthorized attempted openings after hours or in unauthorized areas. If a key is misplaced or stolen, the locks can be electronically updated to deny access, eliminating the cost re-keying traditional locks.

The lock itself is plug-and-play. All power for the lock is provided by the key, so there is no need for hard-wiring. Simply remove the mechanical lock, replace it with a Medeco XT lock, and your system is ready to use.
