INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE WITH HIT-136 INSTALLATION TOOL SARGENT PROFILE SERIES CYLINDRICAL LOCKS
Remove allen bolt and back plate. Place HIT-136 drill guide on door with aligning washers in the 2-1/8" crossbore. HIT-136 should be placed on door so the writing on the front plate is in the upright position. Replace back plate and tighten allen bolt until snug. Do not over tighten. HIT-136 is now ready to retrofit Sargent Profile Cylindrical Locks. All through bolt holes may be drilled in one operation through the door, or half way from both sides. This unit was designed to retrofit locks with 2-3/4" backsets.
DRILLING INSTRUCTIONS
Place alignment washers on inside of HIT-136 drill guide in the 2-1/8" lock crossbore. This is how the drill guide is aligned.
Tighten the allen bolt with the supplied wrench, it needs to be snug. Do not over tighten.
Use a 5/16" drill bit and drill the lock post holes. They are located at 6 & 12 o'clock, above and below the lock lever.
NOTE: The factory template calls for a 7/16" hole—a 5/16" will work perfect.
There are 3 1/4" drill bushings on both sides of the drill guide, drill these through the door half way from both sides. They are for the escutcheon posts and wire run. See pictures above.
The two holes being drilled above is for a wire slot going under the inside lock mounting rose. Drill only to a depth of 5/16".
DRILL THESE HOLES ONLY ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR.
The two drill bushings located to the right and left of the cross bore are for the anchor lugs, drill to a depth of 1/4" with a 5/32" drill bit on both sides of the door.
With a 1/2" drill bit, drill top and bottom 1/4" holes through. Drill half way from both sides of the door.
With a 1-1/2" hole saw, drill the hole for the wire run through the door. Drill half way from both sides of the door.
Use a sharp chisel and outline the slot for the wire channel. Use the two 1/4" holes for locating and go from the top hole to the crossbore.
Use a sharp 1/4" wide chisel and make the required channel. Chisel to a depth of 5/16".
Install the Sargent Profile Lock per manufacturers instructions.
