At present, many public transport systems collect fares using closed-loop applications and smart cards. Most of these collection systems rely on proprietary contactless technologies that often provide only a basic level of security. In HID Global we have a strong expertise in High Secure and Open Standard solutions merging the security of card/ticket body with our strong cryptography capabilities. We are able to manage the full Card/ticket life cycle from production to personalization and fulfillment thanks to our Personalization Center.

A wide range of Operating Systems

Starting from our experience in the realization of e-ticketing systems for transportation based upon the use of smart cards, HID Global has developed an operating system for multifunctional smart cards, usable for local public transport and based on the most important international standards.

The KIAT™ (Key ISO Authentication Token) is a dual interface card (contact and/or contactless) compliant with the international standards ISO 7816 and ISO 14443. The secure access to the data on board of the module is performed through an operating system optimized for microprocessors which communicate in radiofrequency mode.

Furthermore, HID Global is very proud to launch its new Operating Systems:

Soma Atlas™ is a multi-application, contactless or dual interface microprocessor based smartcard that complies with Calypso Specification for Ticketing and ISO/IEC 14443, ISO/IEC 7816 and ensures high security and fast contactless transactions;

Soma Helios™: a New, Innovative and Open Standard operating system provides a secure and flexible solution for public transport and multi-application schemes and overcomes the limitations of proprietary technologies, proving a future-proof path for transport ticketing and beyond.

Host card emulation (HCE)

HCE is the software architecture that provides exact virtual representation of various electronic cards (access, transit, banking etc) using only software.

HCE enables mobile applications (running on supported operating systems) to offer card solutions independently of third parties while leveraging cryptographic processes traditionally used by hardware-based secure elements without the need for a physical secure element.

Use credit cards or mobile phones as tickets, order your transport subscription on the Internet… Nowadays, all major transport companies are looking for innovative solutions to improve service to their customers with a special attention to cost reduction of physical supports and their distribution.

AFC software proposed by HID Global is a global solution that implements a comprehensive, powerful and easy-to-use e-ticketing system. HID Global proposal is based on a real modular structure that allows to acquire and use the functionalities requested for the specific electronic ticketing system, ensuring the possibility to upgrade it subsequently with add-ons and expansions. Each module is available separately, in order to tailor the initial investment to the real needs of

the company. Based on web server architecture, it can be used by an unlimited number of work stations that need only a browser like Microsoft Internet Explorer, via company's local network or via Internet.

All data produced are collected in a central database. It can be used by several companies working together (but independently) in the same system.
