BEST® Preferred Keying System is one of the most adaptable patented key control systems available – designed to retrofit virtually every manufacturer's Grade 1 and Grade 2 door hardware. Besides being available in standard interchangeable core formats, retrofit cylinders including conventional mortise, rim, deadbolt and padlock, key-in-knob/lever are also available. Because the patented system can be masterkeyed (no matter what hardware is used at a facility), you can use the BEST® Preferred Keying System key to operate all locks.

BEST® Preferred keys are also "backwards compatible" with BEST® Peaks Cores – allowing you to easily upgrade your facility's system.

Inside the system.

BEST® Preferred cores and keys are available exclusively through Stanley sales offices. Key blanks are only sold to individuals authorized by the customer, and only after validating the individual is an authorized purchaser, to ensure key blanks do not end up in the posssession of unauthorized personnel either inside or outside the customer's facility. BEST® Preferred Keying System is extremely easy to combinate and service with no dreaded side bars to install or specialty equipment needed for assembly or cutting keys.

Based on a solid BEST® Peaks platform, BEST® Preferred Keying System is built using reliable pin tumbler technology utilizing a patented peak pin as part of the security. The pin has a recess on the bottom that must match the peak found on the BEST® Preferred Keying System key. If a key without the peak is inserted, the lock will not open.
