Subject: Enabling Total User Lockout Mode Using the Lock Key Cylinder

Models: DL4500 and PDL4500 "Residential / Privacy" Lock Models

The "Privacy" feature allows access through the door to individuals with User Codes and is typically used for rooms needing privacy from others such as bathrooms, dorms, meeting rooms and sleeping rooms in hospitals. When a model DL4500 or PDL4500 mortise lock is programmed for use as a "Privacy" lock, the user throws (extends) the mortise deadbolt to automatically disable the keypad, thus disallowing access to another user for a pre-programmed amount of time.

When the mortise deadbolt is extended to activate the "Privacy" feature, the lock programming allows you to also enable the Total User Lockout Mode (Function 6) upon extending the deadbolt. All User Codes (except User 1 Code) will be locked out.

Currently there are only 2 methods to re-enable the User Codes in the lock:

1. Enter the Master Code

-or-

2. Fully depress the inside lever

Note: Although you can enable the Total User Lockout Mode by extending the deadbolt with the metal key, you CANNOT use the metal key to release the lockout and "re-enable" the users. Inside the lock there are a pair of orange wires connected to the inside lever; these two orange wires MUST make contact to release the Lockout.
