3 PRECAUTIONS ON INSTALLATION & WIRING

Mounting

AT-406 set is designed for indoor use only. Do not install outdoors. It must be used in wall-mounted applications only.

■ Wiring

AT-406 can be wired with 2 non-polarized wires. When add-on sub(s) is installed, connect in loop or home run. Keep audio wires 50cm, 20" away from any AC wiring, fluorescent lights, dimmer switches, etc.

External signalling device

Any particular station can be signalled by bell or light, while it rings. Install TAR-3 relay powered by its own 6V DC power supply (SKK-620 or PS-6D).

= Loading batteries

Slide down front battery cover. Place four SUM-3 (AA) batteries into compartment. Observe polarity.

■ Battery LED indicator

• 1 . LED is brightly lit.
  • → Batteries are powerful enough.
• 2. Becomes dim during use.
• → Batteries are getting weaker.
• 3. LED is no longer lit.
  • → Batteries are exhausted. Replace all four batteries with new ones.

4 WIRING

NP: Non-polarized

PS6 : 6V DC power supply. SKK-620: (+) Red, (-) Black. PS-6D : (+) Red, (-) White.

5 MOUNTING

Mount the intercom on bracket, aligning at the marks. Pull down on bracket, until it properly locks. Terminal section is on the back side. Do not disassemble the unit. For surface wall cable run, outlet hole is provided on the top or bottom of chassis.

6 OPERATIONS

Press CALL button to call other station(s)(max. 3 subs). It rings as long as CALL button is pressed. Communicate on handsets. At conclusion, replace handset onto cradle. If not hung up, battery power is consumed.

★ External device, connected to a station, is activated as long as call tone rings on handset.

7 TECHNICAL PRECAUTIONS

• ★ Do not hold hook switch down while handset is off hook, as the call tone sounds very loud through handset receiver.
• ★ Do not connect AC wires to any terminal on any unit.
• ★ Do not use DC power supply when the batteries are installed.
• ★ Do not install AT-406 in places subjected to temperature/humidity extremes, dust, oil, chemicals, salt, etc.
• ★ Clean AT-406 with a soft cloth dampened with neutral household cleanser. Never use any abrasive cleaner or cloth.

Aiphone warrants its products to be free from defects of material and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of one year after delivery to the ultimate user and will repair free of charge or replace at no charge, should it become defective upon which examination shall disclose to be defective and under warranty. Aiphone reserves unto itself the sole right to make the final decision whether there is a defect in materials and/or workmanship; and whether or not the product is within the warranty.

This warranty shall not apply to any Aiphone product which has been subject to misuse, neglect, accident, or to use in violation of instructions furnished, nor extended to units which have been repaired or altered outside of the factory. This warranty does not cover batteries or damage caused by batteries used in connection with the product.

This warranty covers bench repairs only, and any repairs must be made at the shop or place designated in writing by Aiphone. Aiphone will not be responsible for any costs incurred involving on site service calls.
